The Best Benjamin Moore Taupe Paint Colors

Taupe is often described as a gray-brown color, making it a perfect neutral choice for walls, kitchen millwork, or furniture. As a designer, I’ve recently seen a surge in requests for warm, nutty taupes—which means I’ve spent a lot of time reviewing Benjamin Moore taupe paint colors, from those that lean more brown to those with cooler gray undertones.

Naturally, I’ve developed a few favorites. So, I’ve decided to compile my list of the best Benjamin Moore taupe paint colors that are on-trend, incredibly versatile, and well-suited for the home.

AVOID COSTLY (AND UGLY) DESIGN MISTAKES

Is Taupe On Trend In 2026?

While you don’t have to rely on trends to choose a paint color for your home—and personally, I think taupe is a timeless choice—it’s also very much on trend for 2026. We’re seeing a strong shift toward warm woods, rich neutral tones, and overall warmer palettes.

Warm taupes fit beautifully into this direction, while cooler, more gray-leaning taupes can be used to balance all that warmth. In many ways, taupe is the new beige.

The Best Taupe Paint Colors

1. Benjamin Moore Annapolis Gray

Benjamin Moore’s Annapolis Gray really caught my attention. After comparing it to countless other taupes, I’ve crowned this one the perfect paint color. It’s not too dark or too light, and it doesn’t lean too warm or too cool.

I played a full-on Goldilocks game with taupes, and I kept coming back to this one. I can easily see it working across a wide range of interiors—effortlessly and harmoniously.

2. Benjamin Moore Cotswold

Cotswold is a taupe that’s slightly deeper and warmer than the first color on this list. Personally, I love richness and depth in an interior, and this paint color delivers just that without feeling overpowering. It pairs beautifully with blues, purples, and charcoals, creating a bold yet sophisticated atmosphere.

3. Benjamin Moore Inushuk

This taupe, which goes by Inushuk and smokey taupe, is the shade my client and I agreed on for her millwork. The project is still in progress, so hang tight—I’ll update the photo here as soon as possible. We chose this color because we loved how light and airy it is, reading as a warm gray that pairs beautifully with neutral interiors. It’s a foolproof taupe if you’re looking for something on the lighter side.

4. Benjamin Moore Interlude

Benjamin Moore’s Interlude is a warm, brown taupe that feels very on-trend for 2026 and beyond. I’m a sucker for rich, deep colors, and this one is perfect for creating a moody, sophisticated atmosphere. This taupe is incredibly versatile—depending on the lighting, it can look completely different (as is true with all paint colors). Add this shade to your list if you’re looking for something deep, rich, and impactful.

5. Benjamin Moore Pensive

This taupe is a lovely in-between warm shade that isn’t too dark. Although it leans warm, it’s one of those chameleon-like taupes that can appear quite gray in certain lighting. It’s a classic taupe that you should definitely consider for cabinetry or to create a cozy, inviting bedroom.

6. Benjamin Moore Rocky Road

Rocky Road is what I’d like to say is a standard taupe. It’s exactly what you think of when you think taupe. It’s all in one colour between gray and brown, which makes it a perfect option!

7. Benjamin Moore Cabot Trail

Okay, Cabot Trail is a rich taupe! If you’re looking for depth, this is it. This color would be stunning on millwork, adding contrast, sophistication, and just the right amount of drama—I’m here for it. If you want to bring a deep taupe into your space, definitely keep this one and the next color on this list in mind.

8. Benjamin Moore Ashley Gray

Ashley Gray is a deep taupe with cooler undertones. As the name suggests, it could also be classified as a warmer gray. Regardless, this shade is lovely and incredibly versatile. I can see it being used in entryways, on accent walls, or for cabinetry.

9. Benjamin Moore Alexandria Beige

This taupe is absolutely stunning. It’s rich and has a subtle, deep green undertone, which gives it an earthy, grounded feel. Nutty, warm, and truly a stunner, this shade would look incredible as a millwork color.

10. Benjamin Moore Pashmina

Last but not least, we have the ever-popular Pashmina. This beautiful taupe is a favourite for walls, cabinetry, and just about anything that can be painted. I see a lot of green undertones in Pashmina, which makes it pair especially well with walnut and other warm wood tones.

What Colors Go Well With Taupe?

Taupe is an incredibly versatile color that pairs beautifully with a wide range of hues, including blues, greens, charcoals, blonde woods, and more. I consider it a true neutral—one that works well in most spaces and with most palettes.

Taupe is the new beige—you heard it here first. That said, the line between beige and taupe can be a bit blurry. In general, taupes tend to have more pigment and depth, while beiges are softer, lighter, and often contain more white, making them less rich and less impactful.

So don’t be afraid of taupe. Embrace it and bring it into your home decor.

How To Select The Right Taupe Paint?

Now that I’ve shared plenty of stunning taupe paint colors to choose from, you might be wondering, “Okay, how do I choose the right one for me?” That’s a great question—and here’s my designer advice.

Start by looking at the elements in the space that are staying, such as flooring, cabinetry, furniture, and finishes. From there, compare taupe options against those existing colors.

A great way to do this is by using Samplize and ordering mess-free peel-and-stick swatches delivered right to your door. This allows you to see the paint color in your space before committing, and to compare taupes side by side with the other colors in the room.

This is the best way to ensure color harmony and make confident design choices.
