The Most Popular Pinterest Home Trends In 2025

So, what are people actually searching for on Pinterest these days? In this post, I’m diving into the rising home trends on Pinterest to watch in 2025. Spoiler: things are getting bolder. From contrast trim to hand-painted furniture, people are leaning into maximalism, eclectic styles, and vintage treasures. The trend cycle is moving away from cookie-cutter spaces and leaning into homes with attitude, colour, and personal flair. Here’s a look at the trending interior design ideas that are taking over Pinterest, and how they’re making their way into real homes:

AVOID COSTLY (AND UGLY) DESIGN MISTAKES

10 Rising Pinterest Home Trends

1. Contrast Trim

Painting the trim a different colour than the walls (think bold or dark against neutral) for a sharp, designer look. It’s an easy, high-impact trick to make a space feel curated.

Now, I’ve actually been recommending contrast trim to my clients for a while, and I’ve noticed most people are hesitant at first. Usually because I suggest going bold with black or charcoal, and let’s be honest, people get a little freaked out when you bring up painting anything black in their home. But every time they go for it and paint the trim black, the reaction is the same: “Wow?!”—followed by a full-blown obsession with the look. I’ve seen it happen time and time again.

2. Cupboard Painting

Pinterest Interior Design Trends

A budget-friendly refresh: people are painting their kitchen and bathroom cabinets in moody tones, earthy greens, or saturated blues to give their space a facelift.

This is fun, I love seeing how people are funking up their cabinets and finding creative ways to reuse what they already have. My personal favourites? Adding rich, bold colours to cabinetry; think deep blues, forest greens, burgundy, even purples. Yeah…I’m definitely digging this trend.

Check out Clare for paint.

3. Door Murals and Hand Painted Wall Patterns

It seems like people want to funk up their doors, huh? From floral paintings to abstract designs, people are turning their doors into art pieces. It’s a creative and unexpected way to personalize a space.

I really like this trend, it’s all about stepping outside the box. Who said we can’t get ornate again? Who decided doors have to be boring? Definitely not me.

Instead of using wallpaper, many are painting their own wall designs—arches, checkers, stripes—to get a custom look that feels playful and unique.

4. Hand-Painted Furniture

Pinterest Interior Design Trends

Again, people are digging the hand painted stuff, and as an artist I am loving it! Pinterest is seeing a rise in people hand-painting dressers, tables, and chairs with florals, patterns, or custom colour-blocking.

5. Fabric Wall Decor

Pinterest Interior Design Trends

Textile art is trending: think fabric panels, tapestries, or even mounted vintage rugs being used to soften and warm up modern interiors.

I like this trend because it’s different, it brings in texture and warmth. If you’re covering your walls with regular canvases, it can start to feel a little boring. Decorating with different materials keeps things interesting and adds depth.

Etsy is always a good place to go to for wall hangings.

6. Eclectic Apartment

Pinterest Home Trends

Searches for eclectic apartment decor are up—people are embracing mix-and-match design, combining styles, eras, and unexpected elements to create layered, personality-packed spaces.

Now, this is right up my alley. I like mixing and matching, In fact, I might dislike matching. So the fact that people are into eclectic styles now is making me happy.

7. Eclectic Boho Bedroom

The new boho: still relaxed and organic, but now with vintage finds, saturated colours, and bold art. It’s less beige, more personal.

I’m not personally a fan of full-on boho style, but I can definitely get behind eclectic boho. It’s got a bit more funk and edge—and a little less of that woo-woo vibe.

Anthro Home is great for this look.

8. Eclectic Maximalism

Pinterest Home Trends

Maximalism with a twist, layered art, textured throws, funky lighting, and pieces from different time periods. It’s a curated kind of chaos.

This style is so fun and leaves plenty of room to play. If you’ve got a bit of a hodgepodge of pieces, this look can help you bring it all together and create a sense of cohesion. It’s always a fun style to decorate in,and honestly, I love the end result every time.

Birch Lane is great for this look.

9. Vintage Maximalism

Pinterest Home Trends

Old-school is back in style. People are hunting for secondhand furniture, vintage glassware, bold upholstery, and ornate details that bring history (and drama) into their homes.

Now, this is my vibe! My go-to shop for vintage is Jayson Home.

10. MCM Glam

MCM Glam is where the clean lines of mid-century modern meet the luxe vibes of glam. Think sleek silhouettes paired with bold brass, velvet textures, jewel tones, and dramatic lighting. It’s retro meets refined—a style that feels both timeless and indulgent. Perfect for those who love structure but aren’t afraid to add a little sparkle.

Arhaus is a great retailer to achieve this look.

Which Pinterest Home Trends Have Longevity?

When it comes to trends, the real question—at least for me—is which ones actually have longevity and which are just passing through. The way I see it, it’s not necessarily what trends you implement, but how many you bring in—and how you do it.

Dressing a home is a lot like dressing yourself. If you throw on every trending item at once, you might end up looking like you’re trying too hard or don’t have a clear sense of personal style. Interiors work the same way. If a trend really resonates with you, go for it. If it doesn’t, skip it.

The key is to select a few Pinterest home trends that speak to you and implement them intentionally. Then, round out your design with pieces that complement those choices. Interior design is all about harmony and balance—and that can be achieved in many different ways.

At the end of the day, design trends should inspire and guide your design direction, not define it. The best interiors reflect your personal style, not just what’s popular right now.
