Pinterest Interior Design Trends to Watch for in 2025

The new year is here, and with it comes a fresh wave of interior design trends (or fads, depending on your perspective). It’s the perfect opportunity to rethink how we design and style our spaces, encouraging people to explore new ideas and repurpose the familiar. In this post, I’ll break down some of the emerging Pinterest interior design trends gaining traction—and share my thoughts on each.

AVOID COSTLY (AND UGLY) DESIGN MISTAKES

Growing Pinterest Home Trends

1. Adult Bunk Beds

Now, this is FUN! I was surprised to see this on the trending page. But then again, should I really be surprised? With homes getting smaller and smaller, it makes sense that people are looking for creative ways to maximize space. In this case, the wheel isn’t being reinvented, but we’re certainly changing the perception of bunk beds. They’re practical and cool. I feel like this could even work for a master suite—imagine you and your partner sleeping in the same room but having your own personal space as well. Win-win?

2. Minimalist Room

Minimalist bedrooms are surging in popularity, and I couldn’t be happier. Personally, I’m embracing a more minimalist lifestyle and loving it so far. There’s something incredibly freeing about having fewer possessions. A minimalist bedroom creates a serene and relaxing environment, which makes it perfect for unwinding. This trend is definitely a win.

3. Rustic Farmhouse Fireplace

Another Pinterest trend I’m loving! These fireplaces signify a return to a warm and cozy home aesthetic. Rustic farmhouse fireplaces remind me of home—they have an undeniable charm that modern designs just can’t replicate. I especially love the juxtaposition of old and new. Pairing a rustic fireplace with sleek, modern furniture creates a stunning contrast. This trend is a definite thumbs-up from me.

4. Old World Kitchens

Here’s another trend I’m thrilled about. Old-world kitchens are classic, charming, and downright stunning. Like rustic fireplaces, these kitchens showcase the beauty of traditional design. They exude warmth and character, and I can’t get enough of their timeless elegance. Old-world kitchens are truly captivating, and I’m delighted to see them making a comeback.

5. Beachy Room Decor

This trend is SO cute! I’m obsessed with this aesthetic, partly because I dream of living near a beach. Beachy decor is sweet, feminine, and oh-so-charming. It’s refreshing to see people gravitating toward this style, as it brings a sense of calm and breezy relaxation into the home.

6. Shabby Chic

Shabby chic is on the rise, and I can’t say I’m surprised—especially since Pinterest’s user base tends to skew younger. This style is insanely comforting to me. While it’s not my personal favourite, I can definitely appreciate its appeal. It’s feminine, playful, and soothing. I may not be in love with shabby chic, but I can’t be mad about it either.

7. Art Studio Room

I’m thrilled to see this trending because it means people are rediscovering their passion for hobbies—and as an artist myself, I absolutely love it. On a personal note, having been in a bit of an artistic rut lately, I can confidently say that an art studio at home is the perfect space to reignite inspiration and creativity.

8. Pantry Organization

Organization always seems to be in style, but it’s worth noting the growing interest in pantry organization. There’s something incredibly satisfying about a well-organized pantry—it’s not just visually pleasing, but also highly functional and practical. As I always say, the first step in great interior design is decluttering, and a tidy pantry is a perfect example of that principle in action.

Pinterest Interior Design Trends in a Nutshell

Pinterest has long been a source of inspiration for design enthusiasts, and the emerging trends for 2025 reflect a fascinating blend of practicality, nostalgia, and creativity. From maximizing space with adult bunk beds to creating serene, minimalist bedrooms, the trends highlight a shift towards making homes more functional, calming, and uniquely tailored to individual lifestyles.

The resurgence of rustic farmhouse fireplaces and old-world kitchens signals a longing for warmth and tradition, blending the charm of the past with modern functionality. These designs are not just about aesthetics; they’re about creating spaces that feel like home in an increasingly fast-paced world. Meanwhile, styles like beachy decor and shabby chic bring an element of playfulness and escape, offering an antidote to the mundane.

Another standout trend is the rise of art studio rooms, emphasizing the growing importance of personal hobbies and creative expression. Whether you’re an artist seeking inspiration or someone looking to explore a new passion, dedicated spaces like these encourage creativity and individuality. Additionally, the increasing focus on pantry organization showcases the intersection of practicality and design. A well-organized pantry doesn’t just look good; it supports a clutter-free lifestyle and functional living.

What Home Trends Signify

These trends collectively reveal a desire to make homes not just beautiful, but also meaningful and adaptable to modern needs. They reflect a shift in priorities—where sustainability, mindfulness, and personal expression take centre stage. Whether it’s through decluttering, embracing nostalgia, or carving out creative spaces, interior design is moving toward more intentional living.

As we embrace these trends, one thing is clear: the future of interior design is all about creating homes that work for us—spaces that inspire, comfort, and reflect who we truly are. What trends resonate with you? Whether you’re revamping a single room or reimagining your entire home, 2025 is the perfect time to bring your vision to life.
